About the role#
Farm Bureau Financial Services is hiring a Claims Intern for the summer of 2027. This full-time position provides exposure to the insurance industry through hands-on work and corporate activities. You will spend most of your time on project-based assignments within the claims department, with additional time dedicated to networking and organizational learning.
What you'll do#
- Review, evaluate, and analyze claim documentation.
- Assist with auto storm losses and track losses during storm season.
- Manage claim assignments for material damage.
- Handle rental vehicle coordination and process title work.
- Gain exposure to Underwriting processes as time permits.
- Participate in corporate activities to learn about company culture and operations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college degree program, preferably as a Junior or Senior.
- Preference for majors in Business Administration, Agriculture, or Insurance.
- Strong computer skills, with familiarity in Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel preferred.
- Ability to learn property insurance policy concepts quickly.
- Excellent customer service skills and a detail-oriented mindset.
- Comfort talking on the telephone, as this role involves significant phone communication.
- Ability to work as part of a team and a willingness to ask questions.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site, full-time internship located in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
- Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
- This position is paid.
