Volunteer, Student Intern, Patient Engagement

About the role#

This is an unpaid, full-time student internship focused on patient engagement and community health support. Interns provide essential assistance to assigned departments, contributing to the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of services. Assignments are based on specific departmental needs, grants, and patient demographics, with a primary focus on delivering community-based healthcare to medically underserved populations.

What you'll do#

• Provide support to an assigned department, which may include health education, patient engagement, clerical support, or event assistance.
• Participate in the planning and evaluation of services in accordance with departmental guidelines.
• Perform duties as assigned under direct supervision.
• Work effectively with diverse social, cultural, and economic groups.
• Maintain positive working relationships with coworkers and other departments.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as a full-time student at a local high school, vocational program, or accredited college or university.
• A minimum 2.0 GPA.
• Must be from an approved affiliated program.
• An interest in the mission and vision of Family Health Centers of San Diego.
• Ability to meet organizational medical and background clearance requirements.
• Preferred majors include Public Health, Nursing, Health Administration, or Psychology.
