About the role#
Fallston Veterinary Clinic offers a structured externship and preceptorship program for veterinary students. This program provides practical experience in a small animal practice to help you prepare for your career after graduation. You will work alongside our veterinary team to gain hands-on experience under the supervision of a mentor doctor. Externships are flexible and typically last between two and eight weeks. Your schedule will include a mix of days, evenings, and weekends.
What you'll do#
Externs participate in all aspects of patient care. You will gather patient histories and perform physical examinations. You will also develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans and assist in managing medical cases. You will scrub in to surgeries and provide wellness care to patients. Throughout the program, you will polish your technical skills, develop client communication abilities, and produce medical records including SOAPs.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited DVM program.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Current professional liability insurance.
- A professional approach to conduct and dress.
Location & details#
This role is located in Fallston, Maryland. The position is on-site and full-time. We provide a stipend of $250 per week for participants.
