About the role#
As an Engineering Intern at Estes Energy, you will join a technical team working on zero-emission power systems for commercial vehicles and equipment. This role involves taking ownership of a meaningful slice of a live project, working alongside senior engineers, and contributing to systems that transition industrial applications away from diesel. You will use first-principles thinking to design with cost and scale in mind.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to the design, build, and test of components or subsystems, including mechanical, electrical, controls, battery, manufacturing, or systems engineering.
- Develop and run experiments to test hypotheses and translate data into actionable decisions.
- Build tools, models, fixtures, or analyses to improve team efficiency.
- Document your work clearly and present findings to the team.
- Take ownership of a defined project and drive it to a measurable result by the end of your term.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Materials, Manufacturing, Systems, Material Science, Metallurgy, or a related engineering field.
- A bias toward making things, with preference for experience in hands-on projects, labs, research, or build teams.
- Comfort with experimentation and data integrity.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership, and collaborate directly.
- A curious and rigorous mindset that challenges assumptions to solve problems at the root.
