About the role#
The Legislative Affairs Intern will support public policy and legislative affairs efforts at both the state and federal levels, with a primary focus on LGBTQ+ rights and healthcare policy. Working within the External Affairs department, you will collaborate with professional staff to engage in the legislative process and gain experience in governmental relations.
What you'll do#
- Monitor and attend committee hearings in the Ohio General Assembly and the US Congress.
- Track bills through the legislative process from introduction to voting.
- Draft summary memos and conduct research to support policy initiatives.
- Communicate with elected officials and legislative staff.
- Present updates and attend meetings as part of the governmental relations team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or background in Political Science, Public Health, Communications, or Sociology.
- Understanding of public policy and an interest in LGBTQ+ rights and healthcare policy.
- Experience with research and analysis.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to draft summary memos.
- Ability to travel and reliable transportation.

- Term: Fall 2026 (August 24 to December 18, 2026).
- Modality: Hybrid.
- Status: Full-time, unpaid internship.
