About the role#
Epic Tails Veterinary Clinic offers a hands-on externship program for DVM students. This program provides practical experience in a small animal practice to help prepare you for clinical work after graduation. You will work alongside our veterinary team and receive mentorship throughout your rotation. We offer flexible scheduling, with rotations typically lasting two to three weeks, though they can range from two to eight weeks depending on your curriculum. You will be assigned a mentor who will provide instruction and a written evaluation of your performance at the end of the program.
What you'll do#
- Gather patient histories and perform physical examinations.
- Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans for medical cases.
- Assist in the management of medical cases and provide wellness care.
- Scrub in to surgery to observe and assist.
- Polish your technical skills and client communication techniques.
- Produce medical records, including SOAPs, within the time limits of daily practice.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited DVM program.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Proof of professional liability insurance.
- A professional approach to conduct and attire.

- Compensation: A stipend of $250 per week is provided.
