About the role#
EMI is looking for students to join our Landscape Internship Program. This role offers hands-on experience across multiple areas of the landscape industry, including maintenance, installation, design, project management, sales, and business operations. You will work alongside experienced professionals who provide mentorship and support as you build practical skills for your future career.
What you'll do#
- Support landscape designers, project managers, and operations teams with project planning, preparation, and meetings.
- Assist with field tasks such as planting, mulching, grading, irrigation installation, and hardscape construction.
- Maintain records of project activities, site conditions, measurements, and photographs.
- Learn to identify plant species, trees, shrubs, and seasonal flowers while assisting with pruning and maintenance.
- Monitor project progress to ensure work meets company quality standards.
- Follow all safety policies and participate in safety meetings and jobsite initiatives.
- Gain exposure to departments including sales, estimating, accounting, and human resources.
- Observe client communications and work collaboratively with field crews and office personnel.
- Participate in training sessions, job shadowing, and mentorship activities.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Construction Management, Agriculture, Business Administration, Human Resources, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
- Strong interest in the landscape or green industry.
- Positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of landscape principles, plant materials, or construction practices is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is preferred.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are preferred.
- Physical ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds and perform tasks involving standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.

- Location: Plain City, Ohio.
- This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship with a rolling term.
