About the role#
We are looking for an OMHC Mental Health Intern to join our team. This role provides hands-on experience for individuals pursuing a career in mental health. You will work in a supportive environment, learning about therapeutic approaches like art therapy, medicine management, and gender issues counseling.
What you'll do#
- Assist licensed professionals with individual and group client sessions.
- Help develop and implement treatment plans based on client needs.
- Conduct assessments and document client progress under supervision.
- Lead art therapy sessions to encourage creative expression.
- Provide educational resources to clients regarding medication management.
- Foster an inclusive environment during gender issues counseling.
- Maintain client confidentiality and follow ethical standards.
- Attend regular supervision and training sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a degree program in psychology, social work, or counseling.
- A strong interest in mental health practices and therapeutic modalities.
- Sensitivity toward diverse populations and an understanding of gender issues.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team while taking initiative when needed.
- Experience or coursework in art therapy is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of psychopharmacology is helpful.
Location & details#
- Locations: Edgewood, MD and Baltimore, MD.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9am to 5:30pm.
- Status: Full-time, paid internship.
- Term: Rolling.
