About the role#
The Radiology Student works under the supervision of a registered technologist to critique and perform diagnostic imaging. This role is PRN and requires on-site attendance in Asheville, North Carolina.
What you'll do#
- Greet patients and escort them from waiting or exam rooms.
- Explain procedures to patients and prepare them for exams according to protocols.
- Review notes to understand the purpose of each exam and verify that orders are correct.
- Produce diagnostic X-ray films and use imaging software to transmit results.
- Adjust X-ray machine controls to capture images with proper density and contrast.
- Practice ALARA principles by using shielding devices and ensuring correct patient positioning.
- Transport patients to and from the department safely.
- Maintain X-ray equipment and monitor for malfunctions.
- Manage inventory and restock supplies in the department.
- Comply with HIPAA, OSHA, and Infection Control guidelines.
- Participate in professional development activities.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma.
- Current enrollment in an accredited Radiologic Technologist training program.
- Current CPR certification.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, body mechanics, and patient movement.
- Understanding of safety hazards and contraindications for patients and visitors.
- Proficiency with email, internet applications, practice management software, and word processing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
