About the role#
The Duke Initiative for Science & Society is seeking an Administrative Intern for the Trustworthy Technology Lab. You will work with the lab director and a team of students to advance research and partnerships. This role focuses on the development and deployment of emerging technologies in ways that are ethical and beneficial to society.
What you'll do#
- Build relationships with international agencies to find and develop joint research opportunities.
- Start and support new research projects focused on trustworthy technology.
- Recruit, onboard, and manage a multidisciplinary team of student researchers.
- Write and contribute to blogs, publications, presentations, and other communications that share research outcomes.
- Handle program administration, stakeholder engagement, reporting, and project coordination.
What you'll need#
- A bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Cybersecurity, Health Policy, Technology Policy, or a related field.
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- A demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and manage projects effectively.
- A Master of Arts in Public Policy or a related field is preferred.
- One year of experience in program administration, academic, or instructional activities is preferred.
- Knowledge of technology policy, health policy, or related areas is preferred.
- Substantive knowledge in ethics and innovation, such as artificial intelligence, privacy, climate, or cybersecurity, is preferred.
