About the role#
As a DC Intern, you will partner with management to work on special projects while gaining experience in distribution center operations. This is a full-time, paid, on-site role with a rolling term. You will help manage and streamline daily tasks like receiving, stocking, order filling, and shipping merchandise.
What you'll do#
- Supervise employees who operate rolling stock or automated equipment.
- Lead start-up meetings to discuss daily volume and safety topics.
- Use Standard Operating Procedures to solve problems and communicate issues to management.
- Identify areas for improvement using Productivity Improvement Plan processes.
- Review quality measurements and report project status to management on a weekly basis.
- Maintain positive employee relations and daily employee records.
- Support safety programs to help prevent injuries.
- Monitor merchandise flow throughout the distribution center, which may involve bending, stooping, kneeling, and some heavy lifting.
What you'll need#
- You are an undergraduate or graduate business student pursuing a major in Supply Chain Management.
- You have strong analytical skills and are self-motivated.
- You communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
- You are detail-oriented and committed to precision.
- You have experience with employee relations, including conflict resolution and one-to-one communication.
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office tools, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- You work well in a team environment and can manage multiple tasks at once.
