About the role#
We are looking for a Shorts Production Intern to join our team as a one-person field production crew. You will spend your time traveling throughout the greater Los Angeles area to capture authentic, short-form social content for our channels. This role involves finding compelling stories in real time, interviewing strangers, and capturing high-quality vertical footage. You will report directly to the Head of Shorts.
What you'll do#
- Travel independently to various locations across the Los Angeles area to film content.
- Manage all aspects of field production, including basic camera operation and audio recording.
- Approach strangers in public to conduct interviews and facilitate social experiments or heartfelt interactions.
- Create a comfortable environment for participants to share personal stories or messages.
- Ask thoughtful follow-up questions to uncover deeper narratives.
- Handle sensitive topics with emotional intelligence and respect.
- Identify and pursue compelling stories as they happen in the field.
- Ensure all footage and participant releases are organized and submitted to the production team.
- Communicate regularly with producers regarding your progress and field needs.
- Represent the company professionally during all public interactions.
What you'll need#
- Experience in video production, journalism, documentary filmmaking, or a related field.
- Ability to operate a camera and record clean audio independently.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to start conversations with strangers.
- Emotional intelligence and sensitivity when navigating difficult personal subjects.
- Strong interviewing instincts and active listening skills.
- Creative decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Understanding of short-form social media content.
- A positive, patient, and adaptable attitude.
- A valid driver's license and a reliable personal vehicle.

Location & details#
- This position is based in Burbank, California, with the majority of work performed in the field throughout the greater Los Angeles area.
- This is a full-time, paid internship role.
- Work schedules are flexible based on production needs.
