The Outpatient Pharmacy Intern (P1) works under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to learn and practice the operational and clinical skills necessary for a career in pharmacy. This role focuses on ensuring the safe and effective use of medications within the hospital system while gaining hands-on experience in a clinical environment.
What you'll do#
- Fill and deliver medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Compound medications for outpatient sales and patient care areas.
- Collaborate with pharmacy leadership, peers, nurses, and providers to improve patient outcomes.
- Handle and triage telephone and window inquiries.
- Ensure quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements.
- Coordinate insurance billing and third-party prescriptions.
- Process patient information using appropriate pharmacy systems.
- Participate in departmental meetings, huddles, and training sessions.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited School of Pharmacy.
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- An active PHARMIN-Pharmacy Intern license from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA).
- Knowledge of basic pharmacy practices and procedures.
- Proficiency in mathematical computation.
- Strong organization and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member with high attention to detail.
