About the role#
The DNC Legal team provides advice on legal topics relevant to a national party committee. This includes election and campaign finance matters, voting rights litigation, contract negotiation, employment issues, and privacy law. This internship offers hands-on experience for law students and recent graduates to support the legal operations of the organization.
What you'll do#
- Conduct research and fact-finding on a variety of topics.
- Draft organized documents including emails, legal memoranda, training materials, and presentations.
- Work with the legal team to develop internal policies and processes.
- Support contract workflows through research, template development, and initial review.
- Attend internal and external meetings as needed.
- Perform other legal and administrative duties as assigned.
- Participate in mandatory onboarding and offboarding sessions.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 18 years old by the start of the program.
- You must be physically present in the United States.
- You must be currently enrolled in a JD or LLM program at an ABA certified institution, have graduated from one within the last two years, or have graduated and be currently enrolled in another graduate program.
- You must commit to at least 20 hours per week.
- Required application materials include a resume, cover letter, writing sample, and references.
Location & details#
- The program runs from May 31, 2027, to August 6, 2027.
- This role is available in remote, on-site, or hybrid formats.
- Interns based in Washington, D.C. may perform in-person work at the Democratic National Headquarters and DNC events.
- This position is paid a $3,700 stipend. Housing is not provided.
