About the role#
Delta Dental of Missouri is seeking an Actuarial Intern to gain experience in insurance operations. This is a paid, full-time internship with a duration of 3 to 6 months. You will support our team by contributing to various actuarial, underwriting, and business analytics projects.
What you'll do#
Your tasks will vary based on department needs and your individual skillset. You will work on both routine assignments and complex, multi-step projects. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with claim reserving, pricing, and forecasting.
- Performing rate or system testing and analyzing provider reimbursement.
- Engaging in data analytics and visualization tasks.
- Completing various assignments as determined by current department workload.
What you'll need#
- A bachelor’s degree in progress or completed, ideally in math, actuarial science, quantitative studies, business, economics, finance, computer science, or physics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- The ability to perform detailed calculations and solve complex problems independently.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A passing score on at least one SOA exam is preferred but not required.
Location & details#
This role is based in Saint Louis, Missouri. It follows a hybrid work model, requiring both home and in-office work. You must be able to attend in-person meetings as required by management.
