About the role#
As a Junior Developer Co-op, you will join the research and product development teams to create machine learning powered solutions for the building controls industry. You will work on web and cloud-based applications, focusing on innovation and problem-solving within a technical environment. This is a paid, full-time co-op position.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, and maintain web-based applications using Python, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Contribute to system design and software architecture.
- Write scalable, reusable, and clean code with proper commenting and version control.
- Collaborate with researchers, developers, and product managers to implement new features.
- Create and maintain internal documentation for research findings, product design, and implementation changes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- Proficiency in Python and web technologies, including front-end development with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Experience with back-end web development, relational databases like SQL, and Linux environments.
- Ability to read, understand, and extend existing codebases, including explaining the intent behind your code.
- Strong programming fundamentals and debugging skills.
- Bonus experience: Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Nginx, microservices, and networking concepts like TCP/IP or DNS.
- Bonus experience: Working with LLMs, OpenAI compatible APIs, Flask, FastAPI, building automation, or embedded systems.
- Prior co-op experience and the ability to continue for an additional term are preferred.
