About the role#
As an engineering intern, you will join a team building voice-native foundation models and the platform that delivers them at scale. You will own a scoped project from design to deployment, working alongside a dedicated mentor to ship code that impacts customers and internal systems. You will gain insight into how research, engineering, and customer feedback cycles function in a production environment.
What you'll do#
- Own and ship one scoped project end-to-end, including design, testing, and implementation.
- Contribute merged pull requests that improve specific components or product pillars.
- Deliver one measurable improvement to the codebase or workflow that outlasts your internship.
- Utilize AI as a primary tool for prototyping, testing, and debugging, and share one workflow improvement with the team.
- Ramp up on the Deepgram codebase and your specific domain to debug and extend systems with increasing independence.
What you'll need#
- Experience building projects, tools, scripts, or automations through coursework, personal projects, or previous roles.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language and the ability to learn new languages and tools quickly.
- Strong communication skills and a desire to improve through feedback.
- A first-principles approach to problem-solving, with a focus on understanding root causes when systems break.
- A drive to exceed standard solutions and tackle complex technical challenges.
- Preferred background includes pursuit of a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Data Science, or equivalent self-taught experience.
