About the role#
As an engineering intern, you will join the team building voice-native foundation models and the platform that delivers them at scale. You will own a scoped project from design to deployment, working alongside a dedicated mentor to ship code that impacts customers and internal workflows. This role emphasizes an AI-first mindset, requiring you to integrate AI tools into your daily development process.
What you'll do#
- Own and ship one scoped project end-to-end, including design, testing, and deployment.
- Contribute to the codebase by landing merged pull requests that improve specific components or product pillars.
- Deliver one measurable improvement to the system or team processes that remains after your internship ends.
- Utilize AI tools as a default part of your development workflow and share one new workflow improvement with your team.
- Ramp up on the Deepgram codebase and your specific domain to debug and extend systems with increasing independence.
What you'll need#
- Experience building projects, tools, scripts, or automations through coursework, personal projects, or previous roles.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language and the ability to learn new languages and tools quickly.
- Strong communication skills to explain your work, including technical challenges and lessons learned.
- A first-principles approach to problem-solving, with a focus on understanding the root cause of issues.
- A drive to continuously improve, viewing existing solutions as opportunities for further development rather than final products.
- Preferred majors include Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Data Science.
