Underwriting Operations Intern

About the role#

DB Insurance Co., Ltd. (U.S. Branch) is seeking an Underwriting Operations Intern to support the team in building an underwriting structure. This position offers exposure to core insurance functions, including risk monitoring, reinsurance operations, and data integration. The role is designed for individuals interested in bridging the gap between technical data and underwriting strategy. This is a 12-month, full-time, temporary position based in Anaheim, California.

What you'll do#

• Assist in monitoring underwriting guidelines, implementing updates, and conducting market research on competitor trends.
• Support the management of treaty reinsurance, including data reporting, commission settlements, and the preparation of renewal materials such as risk profiles.
• Research and evaluate external underwriting tools, including natural catastrophe modeling and satellite imagery providers.
• Manage contracts with external vendors and utilize data to support loss ratio analysis and strategic decision-making.
• Maintain file integrity and assist in updating internal underwriting manuals and standard operating procedures (SOP).

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.
• A genuine curiosity about the insurance landscape and a desire to grow into a full-time underwriting professional.
• Strong numerical aptitude with the ability to analyze data sets and perform accurate calculations.
• Exceptional precision and a commitment to producing high-quality, reliable work.
• Ability to break down complex information into clear, understandable insights for the team.
• A self-motivated attitude and a desire to contribute to a collaborative team environment.

Location & details#

• Location: Anaheim, California.
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:30 pm.
• Compensation: $20 per hour.
