About the role#
DB Insurance Co., Ltd. (U.S. Branch) is seeking an Underwriting Operations Intern to support the team in building an underwriting structure. This role provides hands-on exposure to core insurance functions, including risk monitoring, reinsurance operations, and data integration. The position is a 12-month, full-time, non-exempt role based in Anaheim, California.
What you'll do#
- Assist in monitoring underwriting guidelines and help implement updates.
- Support the management of treaty reinsurance, including data reporting, commission settlements, and preparing renewal materials.
- Research and help evaluate external underwriting tools, such as natural catastrophe modeling and satellite imagery providers.
- Assist in managing contracts with external vendors and utilize data to support loss ratio analysis.
- Support the team in maintaining file integrity and updating internal underwriting manuals and standard operating procedures (SOP).
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.
- Genuine curiosity about the insurance landscape with a strong desire to grow into a full-time underwriting professional.
- Strong numerical aptitude with the ability to analyze data sets and perform accurate calculations.
- Exceptional precision and a commitment to producing high-quality, reliable work.
- Ability to break down complex information into clear, understandable insights for the team.
Location & details#
- Location: Anaheim, California.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.
- Compensation: $20 per hour.
- Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance (100% covered for employee, 50% for dependents), paid time off, sick leave, and 13 annual paid holidays.
