Co-Op Engineer

About the role#

ControlTouch Systems is seeking a Co-Op Engineer for the Summer 2026 term. This full-time, on-site position in Louisville, KY, involves supporting all phases of controls projects, from initial concept and research to final after-sales support. You will work under the guidance of an experienced engineer while contributing to project teams and maintaining established guidelines.

What you'll do#

• Assist in project phases including estimating, component selection, network design, and panel layout.
• Perform PLC and HMI programming and use design engineering software.
• Support the development of electrical diagrams, detailed schematics, and system documentation.
• Participate in on-site installation, device troubleshooting, and system debugging.
• Communicate project status effectively to team members and assist in the creation of system manuals.
• Travel to customer facilities as required, which may include non-business hours.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master’s degree program in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Computer Engineering.
• Foundational knowledge of controls concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Basic programming, design, and CAD skills, along with proficiency in MS Office.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and obtain airport security clearance if necessary.
