About the role#
As a Member Service Representative Intern, you will work at our Big Rapids office to support our members and gain hands-on experience in the banking industry. This summer internship focuses on learning how to manage member relationships, handle financial transactions, and support core credit union operations.
What you'll do#
- Learn about individual sales goals and identify potential referral opportunities.
- Assist with credit union products and services while providing follow-up to members and co-workers.
- Respond to basic member communications and inquiries.
- Learn techniques for handling difficult member situations and resolving concerns.
- Shadow team members to open new accounts and observe IRA account processes.
- Demonstrate Online Banking and Bill Payer features to members.
- Assist with debit cards, payroll direct deposit, and disbursement requests.
- Support the loan application process by gathering documentation and observing approval procedures.
- Use the Customer Relationship Management system for documentation.
- Develop knowledge of business services and observe the process of establishing business account relationships.
- Participate in guided membership interactions to build decision-making skills.
What you'll need#
- Current standing as a college junior or equivalent.
- Majors in Business Administration, Finance, or Economics.
- Professional presence with a polished appearance and composed demeanor.
- Exceptional listening skills and genuine empathy.
- Ability to solve problems and diffuse difficult member interactions.
- Comprehensive understanding of business services, accounts, and transactions.
- Track record of goal achievement.
- Technical proficiency and the ability to navigate software applications.
