About the role#
As a Safety Engineer Intern, you will work to maintain the well-being of our workforce and promote a culture of safety across our construction projects. You will gain hands-on experience in implementing safety protocols, conducting inspections, and fostering a secure environment. This is a paid, full-time internship with a compensation range of $20 to $22 per hour. We offer travel, project-based, and regionally based positions.
What you'll do#
- Assist in conducting regular safety inspections on construction sites to identify hazards and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Assess potential risks for various construction activities and provide recommendations for mitigation.
- Participate in safety training sessions and educate workers on proper procedures, equipment usage, and emergency protocols.
- Respond to on-site incidents, participate in investigations, and contribute to corrective measures.
- Assist in the development and enforcement of safety policies and procedures.
- Promote a strong safety culture through campaigns and communication initiatives.
- Maintain accurate safety records, incident reports, and documentation.
- Conduct safety audits to evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs.
- Contribute to the adoption of innovative safety solutions and stay current on industry trends.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree program related to Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a relevant field.
- A basic understanding of construction safety regulations, standards, and practices.
- Familiarity with hazard identification, risk assessment, and inspection procedures.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for reporting and collaboration.
- The ability to analyze work environments and tasks to identify safety concerns.
- Meticulous attention to detail when observing and reporting hazards.
- A collaborative attitude to work with safety professionals, project teams, and contractors.
- Strong organizational skills to manage safety records and reports.
- An openness to adapting safety strategies to changing project conditions.
