About the role#
The Underwriting Internship Program is a 10-12 week training experience during summer 2027. You will work within the Actuarial organization in either Commercial Property & Casualty Lines or Specialty Lines. This program provides hands-on experience with a dedicated manager and practical assignments to help you gain real-world industry knowledge.
What you'll do#
- Perform hands-on underwriting tasks and project work to support business operations.
- Attend broker meetings and participate in job shadow activities.
- Conduct account reviews, data gathering, and account preparation.
- Engage in public speaking and prepare a final presentation.
- Participate in learning sessions covering various insurance topics.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as at least a sophomore, with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2029.
- A GPA of 3.25 or higher is preferred.
- Familiarity with the Actuarial exam process and a genuine interest in the insurance industry.
- Strong organizational, project management, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Effective analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team while maintaining professional business relationships.
- While open to all majors, degrees in Finance or Insurance and Risk Management are preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership ability is a plus.

- This internship is based in New York, New York.
- The role follows a hybrid work schedule, typically requiring four days in the office per week.
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
