About the role#
CNA is hiring interns for the summer of 2027 to support research on national security issues. You will join study teams to work on projects that inform defense policy and operations. This role involves taking on a self-contained research project or supporting ongoing studies to gain experience in applying analysis to real-world challenges.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with researchers and analysts on national security topics.
- Help define and structure analytical problems.
- Develop analytical techniques and carry out research to logical conclusions.
- Present findings and insights to internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Communicate results through both written reports and oral presentations.
- Perform other assigned duties as needed.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a graduate program (master’s or PhD).
- A bachelor’s degree in physics, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field.
- Undergraduate research experience, including literature searches and report writing.
- Experience with database manipulation and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- US citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
