Founding Engineer Intern

About the role#

Clera is seeking a Founding Engineer Intern to work directly with the CTO in San Francisco. This role involves building and shipping features daily to automate the recruiting process end-to-end. You will contribute to the design and development of an agentic AI system, focusing on rapid experimentation and high-impact outcomes. This position requires a full-stack approach and the ability to operate in a high-output environment with daily feedback loops.

What you'll do#

• Build and ship features daily alongside the CTO to automate recruiting workflows.
• Manage full end-to-end development for core product features, from initial ideation to production deployment.
• Collaborate with the founding team to design and implement components of an agentic AI system.
• Engage with users to measure impact on hiring speed and drive rapid product iteration.
• Thrive in a founder-paced, high-output environment with daily feedback loops.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in or pursuit of a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
• At least 6 months of experience with React and TypeScript in a production environment.
• Hands-on experience with Cursor, Supabase, Prisma, and Typesense in a production React/TypeScript stack.
• A strong ownership mindset with the ability to drive features from ideation to production independently.
• Experience working in entrepreneurial, scrappy environments.
• A full-stack focus rather than specialization in a single language like Python or C++.
• A portfolio or sample projects demonstrating full-stack development or open-source contributions.
• Willingness to work 7 days a week and participate in hacker-house setups in Latin America.
