About the role#
We are looking for a Project Coordinator Intern to join our Operations team in Red Deer. You will support the Red Deer Regional Hospital project, a major healthcare development involving a new Ambulatory Care Facility and renovations to the existing hospital center. This role reports to Project Managers and Superintendents and offers the chance to gain hands-on experience in the construction process.
What you'll do#
- Assist with project start-up tasks including tendering, bid evaluations, subcontractor kickoffs, and permitting.
- Manage project documentation such as RFIs, SIs, submittals, change requests, and change orders.
- Help implement and maintain the project QA/QC plan.
- Record and distribute meeting minutes and track action items.
- Monitor trade scopes of work and assist with on-site problem solving.
- Support basic project accounting and project planning initiatives.
- Build relationships with trade partners, consultants, and clients.
- Follow all company policies and safety requirements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree or diploma program in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture.
- An interest in construction and working in a field or site environment.
- Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
- A willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
- Familiarity with construction software or project management tools is an asset, though not required.
- Previous relevant work experience is considered an asset.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid position based on-site in Red Deer, Alberta.
- The role is available for 4, 8, or 12-month terms on a rolling basis.
