About the role#
The City of San Antonio Metro Health District offers internship opportunities for students to gain practical experience in public health. You will work under general supervision within a specific division to develop a working knowledge of your targeted area. This is an unpaid, temporary, at-will position. You may work in an office or clinical environment depending on your assignment.
What you'll do#
- Assist with general administrative functions and special projects.
- Support the coordination, administration, or monitoring of specific programs.
- Conduct research, collect and organize data, perform analyses, and prepare reports.
- Propose solutions to existing problems and discuss recommendations with staff.
- Assist with providing clinical services if assigned to a health clinic.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or GED certificate.
- Current enrollment in a U.S. Department of Education accredited degree program, vocational school, or technical school.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with staff and the public.
- Proficiency with personal computers and basic office equipment.
- Ability to gather information for reports and learn relevant laws and ordinances.
- Strong interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships.
Location & details#
- Location: San Antonio, Texas.
- Term: Winter 2027.
- Work schedule: Up to 20 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday between 7:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
- Modality: On-site.
