About the role#
The City of Mount Holly is hiring a part-time Planning Intern for the Winter 2027 term. This paid, on-site role provides exposure to the Planning Department's four main sections: Administration, Planning, Permitting and Code Enforcement, and GIS Mapping. You will work up to 16 hours per week from January 11th through April 16th. You will have access to a city-provided computer and phone. You are encouraged to attend City Council and advisory board meetings and may shadow other city departments.
What you'll do#
- Assist with text amendments and rezonings.
- Use ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Pro to complete various projects.
- Compile GIS datasets.
- Perform office tasks such as researching, filing, proofing documents, and taking meeting minutes.
- Greet customers and assist with events.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a junior or senior in a bachelor program or as a master student.
- Academic focus in planning, geography, public administration, or a closely related field.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.

- Pay: $14.00 per hour for juniors and seniors; $16.00 per hour for master students.
