Engineering Co-op Student (Part-Time) – Water and Sewer

About the role#

This position offers practical experience in municipal utility operations, capital projects, and asset management. Working under the supervision of licensed engineers and utility staff, you will gain hands-on exposure to infrastructure planning, project management, and system operations within a municipal environment.

What you'll do#

• Assist with the administration and design of capital improvement and maintenance projects.
• Support project scheduling, budgeting, and cost estimating activities.
• Assist in construction observation, documentation, and project closeout activities.
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and internal departments to support project delivery.
• Prepare maps, drawings, and technical documents using CAD, GIS, and related software.
• Participate in field investigations, including inspections, data collection, and GPS/GIS mapping.
• Assist with hydraulic modeling, system planning, and the evaluation of system improvements.
• Maintain engineering records, databases, and asset management systems.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an associates or undergraduate program in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• General knowledge of engineering principles, design standards, and construction calculations.
• Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
• Ability to perform light work that may involve physical exertion and exposure to varying outdoor environmental conditions.
