About the role#
The City of Clovis is hiring an Accounting Intern for a part-time, extra help position within the Finance Department. You will report to the Senior Accountant and provide support for various accounting clerical tasks. After initial training, you are expected to perform your duties with minimal supervision. Work is reviewed periodically both during and after completion.
What you'll do#
- Perform accounting clerical duties including accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Post data to ledgers, registers, journals, and logs.
- Write and post journal entries and perform monthly reconciliations.
- Gather, tabulate, and proofread financial or statistical data.
- Verify collections, receipts, and other financial information.
- Maintain files, records, and general clerical documentation.
- Operate a personal computer using Microsoft products and the City financial system.
- Respond to inquiries and requests.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Business Administration program with an accounting option or a closely related field.
- Junior standing is preferred, or completion of the last semester of sophomore studies.
- A minimum 3.00 GPA from an accredited college or university.
- Completion of Accounting 4A and 4B or equivalent.
- Completion of, or current enrollment in, Intermediate Accounting 120A or Principles of Finance FIN 120 or equivalent.
- Ability to pass an oral interview, medical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background investigation.
- Proof of citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S. at the time of hire.

- Compensation: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour.
