About the role#
This internship provides a structured learning environment designed to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world tax practice. Interns gain hands-on experience during the busy season, working alongside professionals to develop technical skills and professional expertise.
What you'll do#
- Prepare tax returns and tax extensions.
- Organize tax information for client files.
- Assist with tax notices and examinations.
- Maintain a working knowledge of office tax preparation software.
- Perform various administrative tasks as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current status as a junior or one year prior to graduation (based on a 4- or 5-year program).
- Completion of at least one tax class.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented mindset.
- Participation in the VITA Program is preferred.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January through April or May).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Commitment: Minimum of 25 hours per week, including weekends as needed.
- Status: Paid, full-time internship.
