Software Development Intern

About the role#

This internship provides hands-on experience working with software engineers on enterprise-level projects. You will assist in building modern software applications and services using Microsoft Azure to process criminal leads and employment verifications. The role also involves integrating with partner vendors to ensure seamless data exchange and contributing to the migration of legacy systems to modern architectures.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with the team to design, develop, and maintain databases, APIs, and user interfaces.
• Assist in developing JavaScript-based single-page applications using frameworks such as Angular and Vue.js.
• Support the migration of legacy codebases to modern architectures.
• Work with transactional databases to ensure data integrity and performance.
• Participate in code reviews, debugging sessions, and team discussions.
• Follow industry best practices for secure, efficient, and maintainable software development.

What you'll need#

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or Mathematics, or have graduated in the last year.
• Basic knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming, such as C#, Java, or Python.
• Familiarity with transactional databases like SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
• Exposure to JavaScript frameworks such as Angular or Vue.js, including academic or personal projects.
• A problem-solving mindset, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.

• This is a fully remote, paid, full-time internship.
• The role is based in Maryland.
