About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience for students working toward a recovery support specialist certification. You will work alongside professional staff within the adult drug court system to support individuals in their recovery journey. This is an unpaid, full-time, on-site role based in Bloomington, Illinois.
What you'll do#
- Participate in multidisciplinary problem-solving court staffings.
- Assist with case management needs and help participants develop natural supports and sobriety-based activities.
- Connect participants with recovery communities and supportive services.
- Collect and track program outcome data while documenting services in the electronic medical record system.
- Promote a recovery model of treatment, including trauma-informed care, empowerment, and health and wellness.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a recovery support specialist certificate program through an accredited college.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Basic organizational, verbal, phone, and writing skills.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office are preferred.
- Individuals with personal recovery experience are encouraged to apply.
