About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Chesapeake Regional Rx, you will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. You will become part of our long-term care pharmacy team, gaining hands-on experience in daily pharmacy operations. This role focuses on patient safety, workflow efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
What you'll do#
- Assist pharmacists with reviewing and preparing prescriptions.
- Enter prescription information into the pharmacy system.
- Coordinate with healthcare providers to clarify prescription details and resolve issues.
- Support the packaging, labeling, and delivery preparation of medications.
- Maintain inventory levels and perform expiration date checks.
- Participate in medication reconciliation and chart reviews.
- Observe regulatory requirements specific to long-term care.
- Provide service to nursing staff, caregivers, and patients' families.
- Complete assigned training modules and projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited School of Pharmacy (P1-P4 year).
- Interest in long-term care or community pharmacy settings.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Commitment to accuracy and quality.
- Basic computer skills (familiarity with pharmacy software is a plus).
- A team-oriented approach.
