Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern at Chesapeake Regional Rx, you will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to support long-term care pharmacy operations. This role offers hands-on experience in a collaborative environment focused on patient safety, workflow efficiency, and regulatory compliance, helping you prepare for a career as a licensed pharmacist.

What you'll do#

• Assist pharmacists in dispensing medications, including reviewing and preparing prescriptions.
• Conduct data entry of prescription information into the pharmacy system.
• Communicate with healthcare providers to clarify prescription details and resolve issues.
• Support medication packaging, labeling, and delivery preparation under pharmacist supervision.
• Maintain proper inventory levels and perform expiration date checks.
• Participate in medication reconciliation, chart reviews, and assigned projects.
• Observe and learn regulatory requirements specific to long-term care pharmacy.
• Provide customer service to nursing staff, caregivers, and families.

What you'll need#

• Currently enrolled in an accredited School of Pharmacy (P1–P4 year).
• Strong interest in long-term care or community pharmacy settings.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Clear and professional written and verbal communication.
• Commitment to accuracy and quality.
• Basic computer proficiency; familiarity with pharmacy software is a plus.
