About the role#
Chesapeake Contracting Group is looking for interns to gain hands-on experience in the construction industry. You will work on projects across various market sectors. Our team provides guidance and mentorship to help you build on your academic foundations while contributing to our construction projects. This is a full-time, paid internship.
What you'll do#
- Assist the project manager with planning, budgeting, and executing construction plans.
- Join on-site walkthroughs to observe and track construction progress.
- Identify and report safety or quality concerns.
- Work alongside skilled laborers to learn construction processes and techniques.
- Coordinate with departments to ensure materials and equipment arrive on time.
- Handle change orders and project documents like RFIs and submittals.
- Support the project manager and estimating team with daily records.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a degree program for Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and project management software.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Adaptability to changing project demands.
- A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
Location & details#
- This role is on-site at our locations in Baltimore, MD, Annapolis, MD, and Herndon, VA.
- The internship term follows a rolling schedule.
