This internship within the Department of Neurology focuses on stroke and cerebrovascular disease research. As part of the SkRIPT program, you will contribute to the development of blood biomarker, MRI, and clinical outcomes databases to support bioinformatics research. This position is designed for students seeking academic credit and offers a structured introduction to clinical research, neuroanatomy, and stroke pathophysiology.
What you'll do#
- Assist in developing blood biomarker and clinical outcomes databases.
- Conduct literature reviews and perform chart reviews with accurate record-keeping.
- Learn research compliance, including human subject protection, HIPAA, and IRB review processes.
- Gain experience in data entry, data analysis, and the basics of manuscript writing.
- Participate in career development mentorship activities, including CV building, presentation development, and project development lectures.
What you'll need#
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must hold a High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be currently enrolled in a program that provides academic credit for the duration of the internship.
- Preferred majors include Biomedical Engineering, Public Health, Biology, or Health Administration.
