About the role#
The Ingredient Chemistry Intern will join the Global Core R&D team in Plymouth, Minnesota. This 12-week summer program provides hands-on experience in a business environment. You will apply academic knowledge to real-world scientific investigations and support product development. The role focuses on characterizing food ingredients at the molecular level to help our business units and customers.
What you'll do#
- Develop novel chemical and material characterization methods, processing techniques, and product analyses.
- Apply scientific principles to build knowledge about food ingredients.
- Build tools to better understand products and processes.
- Participate in company and community events while networking with management.
- Present a summary of your learnings and experiences to colleagues and leadership at the end of the term.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Material Science & Engineering or a related field, graduating between December 2027 and Summer 2029.
- Ability to work a 12-week internship in the summer of 2027.
- Legal right to work in the U.S. without reliance on a student or third-party sponsored visa.
- Demonstrated interest in wet chemistry and analytical methods.
- Experimental research experience with food ingredients such as fats, proteins, or starches.
- Initiative, resourcefulness, and the ability to work with limited guidance.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Preference for a 3.0 GPA and experience in method development or formulation science.

- Relocation: Candidates must be geographically flexible and willing to relocate to Plymouth, MN.
