About the role#
The Commodity Trading Internship provides an opportunity to build relationships with internal and external customers while learning how to buy, move, and sell grain and related products. Interns will gain practical experience in economics, risk assessment, and decision-making within the agriculture industry. This is a paid, full-time, 12-week program taking place during the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Develop and maintain relationships with country elevators, producers, feed mills, and processors.
- Analyze supply and demand, survey market conditions, and evaluate economic forces to support marketplace positioning.
- Initiate and negotiate terms for commodity purchase and sale contracts, including price, quality, quantity, and logistics.
- Coordinate transportation and logistics to ensure the execution of commodity contracts.
- Complete and present a project focused on improving work processes, customer interaction, or market performance.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited program with a graduation date between December 2027 and August 2028.
- Academic background in Economics, Business Administration, Finance, or Agriculture.
- Ability to complete the full 12-week internship between May/June and August 2027.
- Legal right to work in the U.S. without reliance on a student visa.
- Strong analytical, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
