About the role#
CareDx is seeking an intern to join the Bioinformatics and Data Science group. You will contribute to the development of clinical tests for transplant patients by applying statistical methods to analyze next-generation sequencing and omics datasets. This role involves working at the intersection of computational biology, AI-enabled research, and product strategy.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with scientists and research associates on experimental design, data analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Design, develop, and run computational pipelines for NGS and genomic data analysis.
- Work with laboratory teams to address scientific questions using bioinformatics tools.
- Evaluate the performance of new technology platforms and assays.
- Apply AI-enabled research to identify and prioritize data opportunities across transplant and cell therapy programs.
- Evaluate strategic opportunities for data products, biopharma collaborations, and real-world evidence generation.
- Synthesize evidence into recommendations, decision frameworks, and pilot proposals for stakeholders.
- Present findings and progress updates at team meetings.
- Maintain clear documentation of methods, analyses, and results.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics, Data Science, Biostatistics, Biomedical Informatics, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Life Sciences, Physics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python, R, or another relevant programming language.
- Experience analyzing NGS data, such as targeted sequencing, whole-genome or whole-exome sequencing, or RNA-seq.
- Familiarity with Linux, scripting, and version control tools like Git.
- Demonstrated ability to use AI tools and research to structure open-ended problems and test assumptions.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with experience evaluating biotechnology or healthcare opportunities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with cloud computing and database management is a plus.
- Prior venture, strategy, product, or company-building experience is a plus.
