About the role#
Burns & McDonnell is hiring a Cultural Resources Intern to support our Environmental Services group. You will work with our teams to support infrastructure development projects. This is a full-time, paid internship with a rolling start date. We are looking for self-motivated individuals who are eager to learn and grow within the cultural resources management industry.
What you'll do#
- Apply standard archaeological techniques and procedures.
- Assist with historical and archaeological pre-field research and preparation.
- Perform archaeological field studies, which involves walking up to 10 miles a day and digging shovel tests in various settings.
- Practice soil identification and description.
- Record archaeological sites and conduct artifact analysis, curation, preservation, and cataloging.
- Prepare survey reports, site forms, and desktop reviews.
- Assist with administrative tasks including filing, scanning, data entry, and creating PowerPoint presentations.
- Research project concerns, analyze data, and present solutions.
- Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.
What you'll need#
- Pursuit of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, History, or a related field.
- At least one year of post-secondary education.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA is preferred.
- Prior internship or related archaeological experience is preferred.
- Ability to travel and perform field work.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and active involvement in campus or community organizations.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
