Mechanical Engineering Co-Op

About the role#

Burns Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Co-op to join the team in Philadelphia. This role supports senior engineering staff in executing technical project activities and learning the firm's technical policies, procedures, and design standards. You will work under supervision to contribute to the production of high-quality projects that meet budget and schedule requirements.

What you'll do#

• Assist senior staff with design processes and technical investigations.
• Coordinate project designs with other engineering disciplines.
• Observe and participate in the execution of engineering studies and design analyses.
• Accompany senior staff on-site for construction inspections and learn to communicate design requirements to contractors and suppliers.
• Participate in professional organizations to support the firm's technical reputation.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a four-year undergraduate engineering program with a focus on Mechanical Engineering.
• Demonstrated ability to learn design and analysis basics.
• 0-2 years of previous internship experience is preferred.
