About the role#
Burns Engineering is seeking a Civil Engineering Co-op for the Summer 2026 term. This full-time, paid position is based within the Rail and Transit team in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. You will work under the supervision of senior staff to assist with technical activities, design processes, and project execution.
What you'll do#
- Learn company technical policies, procedures, and standards during project execution.
- Assist the design team in coordinating project designs with other disciplines.
- Participate in technical studies, investigations, and design processes under supervision.
- Regularly visit client sites and accompany senior staff on construction inspections.
- Communicate design requirements with contractors and equipment suppliers.
- Actively participate in professional organizations to support the firm's technical reputation.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a four-year undergraduate Civil Engineering program.
- Demonstrated ability to learn the basics of design and engineering analyses.
- A valid Driver's License.
- 0-2 years of previous internship experience is preferred.
