About the role#
Buckeystown Veterinary Hospital offers externship opportunities for students currently enrolled in an AVMA accredited veterinary school. This role provides exposure to a mixed animal practice, with options ranging from small animal general practice to rehabilitation and mixed animal medicine. Externs receive mentorship from experienced veterinarians and work alongside a collaborative team of assistants and technicians.
What you'll do#
- Assist veterinarians in daily medical care for patients.
- Provide wellness and preventive care for small animals.
- Support rehabilitation efforts, including the use of an underwater treadmill.
- Engage in team collaboration for effective patient management.
- Assist in the operation of in-house laboratory capabilities, digital x-ray, and ultrasound equipment.
- Gain exposure to working with exotics, equines, and farm animals.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an AVMA accredited veterinary school (VMD or DVM degree path).
- A solid understanding of veterinary practices and protocols.
- Strong clinical interest in wellness and rehabilitation.
