About the role#

Buckeystown Veterinary Hospital offers externship opportunities for veterinary students interested in gaining hands-on experience in a collaborative, mixed-animal practice. Students can choose from various schedule setups, ranging from small animal general practice to mixed animal rotations that include canine rehabilitation. This role provides mentorship from experienced veterinarians and exposure to a diverse caseload.

What you'll do#

• Assist veterinarians with daily medical care and patient management.
• Provide wellness and preventive care for small animals.
• Support rehabilitation efforts, including the use of an underwater treadmill.
• Operate in-house laboratory equipment, digital x-ray, and ultrasound.
• Collaborate with a team of veterinarians, registered veterinary technicians, and assistants.
• Gain exposure to exotics, equines, and farm animals.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an AVMA-accredited veterinary school (VMD or DVM degree path).
• A solid understanding of veterinary practices and protocols.
• Strong clinical interest in wellness and rehabilitation.
• Ability to work effectively within a team-based environment.

• Status: Full-time, paid externship with a stipend provided to offset housing and travel costs.
