About the role#
Buckeystown Veterinary Hospital offers externship opportunities for students currently enrolled in an AVMA accredited Veterinary School. This program provides hands-on experience in a mixed animal practice setting. You will work alongside our team of four doctors and support staff, including two RVTs and several assistants. We offer flexible schedule options covering small animal general practice, canine rehabilitation, and mixed animal care.
What you'll do#
- Assist veterinarians with daily medical care and patient management.
- Provide wellness and preventive care for small animals.
- Support canine rehabilitation efforts, including use of our underwater treadmill.
- Help operate our in-house lab capabilities, digital x-ray, and ultrasound equipment.
- Collaborate with our medical team to manage diverse patient cases.
- Gain exposure to exotics, equines, and farm animals.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an AVMA accredited Veterinary School pursuing a VMD or DVM degree.
- A solid understanding of veterinary practices and protocols.
- Strong clinical interest in wellness and rehabilitation.
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team.
