About the role#
This externship program provides practical experience in a small animal practice. You will work alongside our veterinary team to gain hands-on training that supports your professional development. Rotations typically last two to three weeks, though they can range from two to eight weeks to fit your college curriculum. You will work days, evenings, and weekends. A stipend of $250 per week is provided.
What you'll do#
Under the supervision of a mentor doctor, you will participate in all aspects of patient care. Your daily responsibilities include:
- Gathering histories and performing physical examinations.
- Developing diagnostic and therapeutic plans.
- Scrubbing in to surgery.
- Assisting in the management of medical cases.
- Providing wellness care.
- Developing client communication skills.
- Polishing technical skills.
- Producing medical records including SOAPs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited DVM program.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Proof of professional liability insurance.
