About the role#
Bluestone Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Hospital is seeking a Social Work Intern to support psychiatric care for children ages 6 to 17. You will work in a facility with 12 beds under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Services. This role involves providing social service functions, completing assessments, and managing cases for patients and their families. Field hours are flexible, though some evenings or weekends may be required.
What you'll do#
- Perform psychosocial assessments to identify patient social service needs.
- Evaluate patient data to develop and implement care plans.
- Communicate with physicians and the interdisciplinary treatment team regarding patient needs.
- Document progress notes and discharge plans in a timely manner.
- Provide individual support and facilitate family meetings.
- Observe and report on patient mental status, behavior, and responses to treatment.
- Collaborate with the Utilization Review Coordinator and other healthcare team members.
- Maintain knowledge of community social, medical, and psychiatric services.
- Provide resource materials to patients and families.
- Maintain a safe environment for patient care.
What you'll need#
- Current SWT or LSW certification.
- Background in Psychology or Sociology.
