About the role#
As a Civil Engineer Intern at Black & Veatch, you will support water and wastewater infrastructure projects during the Summer 2027 term. You will work alongside multidisciplinary teams to gain hands-on experience in engineering design, project planning, and construction support. This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship.
What you'll do#
- Read and apply departmental design guides, engineering codes, and internal standards.
- Collaborate with project teams to support the design and construction of water and wastewater systems.
- Perform research to provide recommendations for equipment and material selection.
- Prepare basic engineering calculations using standard methods.
- Assist in developing project schedules, cost estimates, and technical deliverables.
- Learn to use engineering software, design tools, and digital delivery methods.
- Focus on internal project team needs while building an understanding of external client goals.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program with an emphasis in Structural, Environmental, Transportation, or Geotechnical engineering.
- Basic knowledge of engineering design principles, construction practices, and industry technology trends.
- Completion of coursework in water/wastewater, hydraulics, and fluid mechanics is preferred.
- A 3.0 GPA is preferred.
- Ability to complete pre-employment requirements, including a criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search.
