About the role#
The Jr. Building Condition Assessor joins the BGIS Professional Services team. This role focuses on site evaluation and technical assessment of real estate assets. You will work independently to identify building conditions and deficiencies while receiving support from a team of engineering professionals. This position serves as an entry point for those interested in capital project work, engineering design, and construction management.
What you'll do#
- Visit client locations to identify building components and evaluate their current condition.
- Use internal software to complete reports for asset management.
- Develop recommendations and cost estimates for the repair or replacement of building envelopes and systems.
What you'll need#
- A university or college diploma in a technical field such as civil, mechanical, electrical, or architectural engineering, or building science.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with MS Excel and the ability to learn new software quickly.
- A valid driver's license, as this role requires travel 50-70% of the time.
- Strong written communication skills and a detail-oriented approach.
- General knowledge of building design, construction, and facility operations for commercial properties.
- 1-3 years of relevant work experience is an asset, though this is an entry-level position.
- Enrollment as an EIT, P.Eng, C.Tech, or RET is considered an asset.
