About the role#
The Jr. Building Condition Assessor joins the Professional Services team at BGIS. This entry level position provides site evaluation and engineering experience. You will work independently while receiving support from a team of engineering professionals. The role focuses on identifying asset conditions and deficiencies, which informs capital project work, engineering design, and construction management.
What you'll do#
- Perform site visits at client locations to identify building components and evaluate their condition.
- Use BGIS software to complete technical reporting for RealAsset.
- Provide recommendations and cost estimates for the repair or replacement of building envelopes, systems, and components.
What you'll need#
- A university or college diploma in a technical field such as architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, or environmental engineering, or building science.
- General knowledge of technical standards and processes for building condition assessments.
- General understanding of building science, including building envelopes, mechanical and electrical systems, and commercial building design.
- Proficiency with MS Excel and strong computer skills.
- 1-3 years of relevant work experience is an asset.
- A valid driver's license, as this role requires 50-70% travel.
- Enrollment as an EIT, P.Eng, C.Tech, or RET is considered an asset.
