About the role#
BES is seeking a Fellow to design, found, and lead a high-achieving school in Atlanta. This multi-year program provides rigorous training to help leaders build a school that meets the specific needs of its local community. We are particularly interested in candidates aiming to found schools in the Gwinnett county area.
What you'll do#
- Engage in over 300 hours of coursework covering school design, leadership, governance, and community engagement.
- Conduct in-depth studies of effective schools and complete residencies at high-performing sites.
- Develop a charter application and establish a founding board.
- Partner with a coach to refine project management and leadership skills.
- Hire founding staff, recruit students, and solidify your school vision.
- Put your vision into action by coaching teachers and using data to drive academic success.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s degree required, with a Master’s or Professional degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience.
- Instructional or instructional leadership experience.
- At least 2 years managing and supervising adults in a PreK-12 setting.
- 2 years of school leadership experience is preferred.
- A commitment to serving as a school leader in the proposed community for at least 10 years.
- Ability to establish and activate local connections to support school enrollment.
- 2-3 years of experience living or working in the proposed school region, with strong ties to the community preferred.
- A clear, compelling rationale for the proposed school location.
- Experience in career-connected learning or existing workforce partnerships is preferred.
