About the role#
This internship offers an opportunity to bridge real-world vehicle physics with virtual simulation. You will learn the complete vehicle creation pipeline while developing a Formula Student race car model, tuning it for dynamic disciplines including skidpad, acceleration, autocross, and endurance. Beyond technical development, you will create documentation, guides, and tutorials to assist future Formula Student teams in using the software for virtual testing and vehicle development.
What you'll do#
- Develop the physics model of a Formula Student race car using JBeam.
- Create or adapt 3D meshes for visual vehicle representation.
- Select and integrate chassis, suspension, wheel, and powertrain configurations.
- Implement simulation scenarios for core Formula Student dynamic events.
- Develop documentation and tutorials to support future Formula Student teams.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Active or past involvement in a Formula Student team, ideally with experience in chassis and suspension design or vehicle dynamics simulation.
- Familiarity with the Formula Student rulebook and design constraints.
- Eagerness to learn text-based physics configuration (Jbeam) and basic scripting.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex engineering problems clearly.
- Familiarity with BeamNG, VSCode, Blender, and GIT/SVN is an advantage but not mandatory.
Location & details#
- Modality: Remote.
- Employment type: Full-time.
- Status: Paid internship.
