About the role#
This internship is for Formula Student participants who want to see how vehicle physics translate into a virtual simulator. You will learn the BeamNG vehicle creation pipeline by building a race car model and tuning it for dynamic disciplines like skidpad, acceleration, autocross, and endurance. You will also create documentation, guides, and tutorials to help other Formula Student teams use BeamNG for virtual testing and vehicle development.
What you'll do#
- Develop the physics model of a Formula Student race car using JBeam.
- Create or adapt the 3D mesh for visual representation.
- Select and integrate chassis, suspension, wheel, and powertrain configurations.
- Implement simulation scenarios for core dynamic events.
- Write documentation and tutorials to support future Formula Student teams.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Automotive, Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering.
- Active or past involvement in a Formula Student team, specifically in chassis, suspension design, or vehicle dynamics.
- Familiarity with the Formula Student rulebook and design constraints.
- Eagerness to learn text-based physics configuration and basic scripting.
- Ability to explain complex engineering problems clearly in writing.
- Familiarity with BeamNG, VSCode, Blender, GIT, or SVN is helpful but not required.
