About the role#
Baxter & Woodman is hiring a Transportation Engineering Intern for the summer of 2027. This position supports the transportation department with the planning and design of various facilities. You will work directly with a transportation design team to gain hands-on experience in the field.
What you'll do#
- Perform plan reviews and prepare project plans.
- Use CAD software for design tasks.
- Conduct quantity computations and traffic analysis.
- Assist with data collection and field surveys.
- Participate in construction inspection activities.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a 4-year degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Transportation Engineering.
- You are available to start in May 2027.
- You have the ability to travel throughout the service area and possess your own transportation.
- You work well in a team environment.
- You possess strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- Positions are available in Bannockburn, Chicago, Crystal Lake, Naperville, and Mokena, Illinois.
- Work modality includes both on-site and hybrid options.
