About the role#
AVB is hiring a Commercial Construction Intern to support our project teams in Portage, Michigan. This is a paid, full-time, on-site role. You will work directly with our Superintendents and Project Engineers to keep our job sites safe, organized, and running efficiently.
What you'll do#
- Support the site Superintendent in maintaining a safe, clean job site.
- Work with subcontractors to ensure they follow safety standards.
- Help Project Engineers manage documentation in Procore, including bid documents, contracts, submittals, and meeting minutes.
- Coordinate project meetings and distribute communications.
- Assist with bid contact calls and monitor building and site conditions.
- Deliver architectural samples and construction drawings to sites or pick up necessary supplies.
- Interact with project team members, vendors, and subcontractors.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or GED and current enrollment in a college or university program.
- Preference is given to students studying Construction Management or a similar field.
- Strong computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Office programs.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to follow directions and work well both independently and in a team.
- Willingness to undergo training and certification for telehandler operation.
- Prior construction experience and OSHA certification are helpful but not required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks like walking, standing, and climbing on job sites.

- This position is based in Portage, Michigan.
- Work is performed on-site at construction locations and in office trailers.
- This is a rolling internship term.
